Tyrannosaurus "torosus" is a synonym of Daspletosaurus torosus under the genus Tyrannosaurus. The name was very unworldly accepted by the public. It has had a little more publicity since Gregory S. Paul gave it a main entry in his 1988 book Predatory Dinosaurs of the World. He is the one who actually coined the name in 1988. Before this assignment "T. torosus" was widely accepted as an albertosaurine more than a tyrannosaurine. This mistake was also seen in the baby T. rex specimen that got its own name, "Gorgosaurus/Albertosaurus sternbergi" and the baby T. rex, nicknamed the Cleveland skull, was once called "Gorgosaurus/Albertosaurus lancensis". Paleontologists mistaken the slenderness and elegance of the skull and placed it in the genus Gorgosaurus.
